Firing services are offered to non-members who are interested in renting a kiln or by
measuring pieces individually. We offer a number of sizes kiln sizes and can accommodate firings from cone *018 to cone 10.
*(Overglaze firings are toxic and are hard on kiln heating elements. An added fee of $25.00 is charged for overglaze firings)

Our repair technicians have been repairing and maintaining used ceramic equipment for many years. We can special order Kiln
Elements long discontinued by the makers of certain makes and models of kilns. Deposits are required for special order items.
Rates for equipment repair are : $150.00 for the initial hour, $80 for each additional half-hour within the 5 boroughs.

For customers with prior pottery experience ($15 per hour or part of an hour). Free for members and students registered for our 12-week classes.
Material cost for non students or members :
To save pottery made during open studio times, Ask to have your pieces measured by an attendant. Firing rate is .10 cents per cubic inch (WxDxHx 0.10cents) per firing with a $10 minimum.
If nothing is saved there's a $5.00 clay use fee charged.
We have 4 different kiln sizes to fit varying size loads or budgets. Prices are for a standard firing cycles. The loading fee is $25-$50 depending on the size of the kiln and how many pieces are being loaded.

Firing rates when pieces are measured
If you only have a few pieces to fire, join our collective firing for .07 cents per cubic inch per firing, with a $10.00 minimum for one piece, and rounding to the nearest $5.00 if under, or $10.00 if over $5.00,
.15 cents per cubic inch - For use of BCi clay, glaze and 2 firings.
.09 cents per cubic inch - For use of BCi glaze and 2 firings. (BCi students using outside clays. Subject to approval by studio manager.)
$1.50 per piece with kiln rental for use of BCi glazes plus $15.00 per hr. for open studio time.
$30.00 fee per firing for rush firings, 2-3 day turn around.
Very small pieces are placed in a kiln shelf before measuring.
Firing policy
All outside clay and glazes must be verified by BCi before firings are done in our kilns. Proof of firing temperature can be a receipt, a photo of the clay box or glaze jar labels, or information directly from the manufcturer.(Meltdown damage to our kilns because of faulty information or over application of glazes will be charged to the customer)
The prices indicated are for standard slow-firing cycles and are subject to change. Any firings with special requirements such as ramp/ hold are subject to additional fees. Glaze firing greenware is prohibited. Pieces must have been bisque fired prior to glaze firing. BCI is not to be held responsible for a piece cracking, breaking, blistering, exploding, or any other type of unsatisfactory result.
Please call, text or email 1 week after dropping your piece to be fired, this is generally enough time to insure your pieces have been fired and unloaded from the kiln.
Rushed bisque or glaze firing ( 2-3 days turn around) Available for kiln rentals only. Payment must be made at drop off and precise clay cone firing reference must be available.
